apmr's key achievements in 2023
Health
In 2023, APMR reached 6,457 people for malaria awareness, referred 206 suspected cases of tuberculosis, screened 6,085 people for HIV/AIDS (with 24 positive cases) and supported 540 malnourished children.
Malaria: 6,457 people (5,478 men and 12,135 women) were reached by educational talks, film screenings, theater forums and VADs.
206 suspected cases of tuberculosis were referred, including 97 men and 109 women. 4 positive, including 1 female.
HIV/AIDS: 6,085 people screened, including 3,358 women and 2,727 men, with 19 positive cases among women and 5 among men.
Nutrition: 540 malnourished children referred, including 236 moderately malnourished and 249 severely malnourished.
Promoting the sexual and reproductive health of young people and adolescents
105 peer educators (51% young men and 49% young women, including IDPs) from schools and vocational training centers were trained in DSSR, VSBG, protection and violence reporting mechanisms.
9361 people (54% women and 46% men) were reached by peer educators to raise awareness of DSSR, VSBG, protection and mechanisms for reporting violence.
EDUCATION & Agri-food processing
An average of 80 girls are trained in cut and sew and 10 in weaving each year.
40 young people are trained and equipped to produce fruit juice, jam and tomato paste.
Recent activity
76 young growers (including 37 women and 39 men) were trained in the production of climate-resistant crops (early varieties, drought- and pest-resistant varieties). They were also provided with improved seeds.
56 young producers (33 men and 19 women), including IDPs, were trained in chemical-free farming, and the production and use of organic fertilizers through the construction of manure pits. They were also provided with equipment: picks, shovels, forks, bags of cement (to stabilize the pits) and bags of Burkina Phosphate.
102 young growers (46 men and 56 women), including IDPs, were trained in soilless crop production. They were also provided with equipment (basins, shovels, plastic watering cans, nurseries) and seeds (onions, tomatoes, peppers, carrots, okra, eggplants, etc.).
63 young producers (36 men and 27 women), including PDIs, were trained in natural forage cutting and conservation techniques. They were also provided with equipment consisting of : metal boxes, forks and sickles.
112 young producers (81 men and 31 women), including IDPs, were trained in water and soil conservation techniques (stone bunds, filter bunds, terraces, half-moons, etc.).
837 people (including 571 men and 266 women) were reached by awareness-raising activities on the causes and consequences of climate change and adaptation options through educational talks.
140,000 people reached by an interactive radio program raising awareness of climate change and agricultural adaptation methods
Youth civic engagement
The communal committees and the Ziro provincial youth committee were supported in holding their general assemblies. This support enabled these bodies to meet and discuss youth issues.
29 representatives (including 21 men and 08 women) of youth associations and groups were trained in their roles and responsibilities in local development.
28 young women leaders from youth organizations were trained in women's leadership and the promotion of gender equality.
70,000 people reached by an awareness-raising radio program on citizenship and civic commitment among young people (Civism, the rights and duties of young people, peace promotion, intergenerational dialogue, etc.).
Economic empowerment of young people and women
42 young female IDPs and 12 young female hosts were trained in income-generating activities such as small ruminant and poultry rearing, and financial management.
42 young female IDPs and 12 young female hosts were provided with small ruminants, poultry and installation kits for income-generating activities. The aim of these activities was to help create better living conditions for internally displaced people in the host communes (Sapouy, Cassou, Gao and Bakata).
89 savings and credit groups trained and supported. 1,877 members benefited from credit, including 51 men and 1,826 women.
Resilience and humanitarian action
45 vulnerable households benefited from agricultural seeds for production.
224 people, including 193 men and 31 women, benefited from awareness-raising sessions on social cohesion and living together.
279 people, including 216 men and 63 women, were made aware of land conflicts and conflict prevention and management strategies.
69 community leaders and representatives were sensitized to land conflicts and conflict prevention and management strategies.
